WHAT:Book Drive Kickoff to benefit children’s agencies and organizations

WHERE:Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop 801 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
During the event, with the donation of a book and the purchase of an adult sundae, Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop will give you one free child’s sundae. The collection of books continues through May 28, 2009.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop, City National Bank, Miami Beach Police Athletic League and Miami Beach Commissioner Deede Weithorn have joined forces to sponsor a “Spring into Reading” Book Drive to benefit children’s agencies and organizations located throughout Miami-Dade County. The kickoff event will be held at the Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop, 801 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Now that Spring is officially upon us, we are asking for residents to remember our annual book drive while conducting their spring cleaning,” said Commissioner Heyman. “We are collecting new and gently used children’s and young adult books to distribute to children’s agencies throughout Miami-Dade County.”
Participating and performing at this event will be the Miami Beach Senior High Jazz Band.
