On Monday, August 17, PAL hosted its Annual Back to School Fair where 500 back packs filled with school supplies were given to kids. PAL also provided pizza and drinks and the event was a huge success! Over 300 parents and children showed up to pick up the much needed back to school supplies and back packs. The rest will be distributed to local Miami Beach area schools. The previous day YDC and Explorer kids spent the afternoon preparing the back packs, forming an assembly line to pack all 500 bags. On Wednesday, June 17, 2009 the Miami Dade County School Board honored both the Police Department and PAL for bringing the DNA Child Safety Program to the Kindergarten, First and Second Graders at the four Elementary Schools on Miami Beach. Both School Board Commissioner Karp and Chief Noriega spoke of the importance of this program to the youth of our community.
