On Wednesday, June 17, 2009 the Miami Dade County School Board honored both the Police Department and PAL for bringing the DNA Child Safety Program to the Kindergarten, First and Second Graders at the four Elementary Schools on Miami Beach.  Both School Board Commissioner Karp and Chief Noriega spoke of the importance of this program to the youth of our community.  PAL and the Police Department were given an ovation by the School Board Commission and the audience. As part of the Child Safety Program, each child was provided with a ten digit biometric fingerprint and color digital photograph on disk, a DNA Legacy Kit and a Child Safety Journal.

The Child Safety Journal includes a personal profile (to be filled out by the parents/guardians), safety guidelines for parents to teach their children, and a message from John Walsh (America’s Most Wanted).
